Rainbow of spikes

Colori nel Verde Garden design

Golden and swaying, since forever a symbol of wealth and prosperity, wheat spikes of seven different ancient Sicilian varieties symbolize the seven colours of the rainbow.

Project Team

The group “Colori nel Verde Garden design” is formed by the Garden designers Annalisa Romagnano and Giorgio Tagliabue. The green spaces designed by the duo try to respect the normal balance between local flora and fauna, recreating environments in which plants and animals can feel at home. Their gardens are designed to be in harmony with the surrounding landscape, give colours, spark interest and be useful to those who observe them and those who decide to live them.

Concept

The colourful and perfumed spikes of nectar and officinal plants are dedicated to pollinating insects, so precious for our crops. They are arranged so as to draw a rainbow that will change colour and appearance through the seasons. Flanks of volcanic ash in celebration of Mount Etna – that stands out against the background – alternate with the foliage and the blooms, thus enhancing their colours. The background is a forest of Mediterranean fruit trees and shrubs. The observer will be able to rediscover a garden that, by valuing the past, can nourish the future.
